We are Christians, and we have put that on the front page rather than saved it for the fourth paragraph.

That is a deliberate choice. A great deal of writing about the unseen pretends to have no position while quietly holding one. We would rather tell you ours at the door, so you can weigh everything that follows knowing exactly who is doing the weighing. You cannot be led somewhere you were never told you were going.

We believe the God who made all things visible and invisible is not troubled by hard questions. So we do not flinch at them, and we do not think you are foolish for asking.

The reporting and the weighing are separated on every page. The story section is meant to be trustworthy to a believer and an atheist alike — names, dates, documents, and a link to the source so you can check it yourself. The weighing is clearly marked as ours.

If you only want the facts, take the facts and go. We think you will come back for them.

Where the Church is not settled, we say so plainly. “Here believers differ” is a strength, not a hedge, and we would rather leave a question open than manufacture a certainty Scripture does not give us.

We correct things. If we get a detail wrong, the entry says what was wrong and when it changed. Accuracy is a form of love; a claim we cannot stand behind does not run.

Scripture is quoted accurately, with the reference, and we name the translation. Where you see no translation named, it is the King James.

Every entry is signed Doulos.

It is the Greek word for bondservant — δοῦλος — and it is the name the New Testament writers reached for first when they introduced themselves. Paul opens Romans with it. So do James, Peter and Jude.

It is not a character invented for a website. It is a confession about who the writer belongs to, and it has been carried for years before this site existed. What it withholds is a legal name, and it withholds it on purpose. Withholding a name is honest. Manufacturing a person would not be, and we will not do that.

I spent most of my adult life treating the occult as fiction. Ghost hunting, witchcraft, sorcery — I grew up on Dungeons and Dragons and every occult game I could find, and I assumed the whole category was made up.

Two things changed that. The first was reading the Sermon on the Mount properly, and understanding that I was damned. The second was digging into the strange seriously, and finding out it was not fiction either. The darkness is real. And instead of frightening me off, that sealed it — because a Bible honest about a real enemy is a Bible I can trust about a real Saviour.

Then my father spent a weekend on a ventilator, and I was two days from having to decide whether to withdraw support. I prayed one thing: take this decision away from me. The next morning he came back, and he told me what he had been shown.

That is the short version. Here is the whole of it, in my own voice.

I write as Doulos. It is not my name, and that is deliberate — but the story is true, and it was never mine to keep.

We will tell you this plainly, because the rest of this page is worthless if we are not straight about it.

What we will never do is present generated imagery as documentation. Our illustrations are visibly illustrations — drawn, not photographed — and they are labelled as such. Where a real image exists, we use the real one and credit it. One instance of a render passed off as evidence would rightly discredit every sourced claim we have ever made. A declassified page, a court filing, a NASA photograph — the actual document on screen is worth more than any render.

The narration on our videos, and the spoken versions of our entries, is synthetic — and now you know.
